Henry MooreIN THE LIGHT OF GREECE25 June - 17 September 2000

The exhibition presented various aspects of Moore's œuvre that related to the art of Greece (Cycladic, archaic, and classical) and the immense impact that this contact had on the work and thought of the great British sculptor. In total, 45 sculptures, 26 drawings, 3 graphics, 5 albums, 2 tapestries and many maquettes and objects from the sculptor's studio were presented. The exhibits were mainly lent by the Henry Moore Foundation, as well as the Ferens Art Gallery, the Huddersfield Art Gallery, the Ashmolean Museum and private collectors. The exhibition was accompanied by a fully illustrated and documented catalogue, with editions in Greek and English.
